CURRENT EVENTS Due to an increase in the average cost of Highway Diesel Fuel over the last month, the FUEL SURCHARGE for the month of May, 2008 will be 41%. HALF PRICING OF PRODUCT ON THE PUMP As you are aware the NC Department of Agriculture Standards Division oversees the mechanics of how you may price petroleum products at the pump. As prices have risen over the past few weeks, we have received spot calls regarding pricing at or above the $4.00 level. We have talked with the NC Department of Agriculture and they are very clear that half pricing of petroleum product in North Carolina will not be allowed. Older mechanical pumps will need to have new equipment/computers installed on them to price at and above the $4.00 per gallon point. AS OF JANUARY 1, 2008, THERE WAS A SLIGHT INCREASE IN THE NC MOTOR FUELS TAX. The NC Gasoline and Diesel Fuel Road Use Tax increased to 30.15 cents per gallon. The NC Inspection Fee remains the same at .25 cents per gallon for both Gasoline and Diesel Fuel. Also, the Federal Motor Fuels Taxes remains the same at 18.4 cents per gallon for Gasoline and 24.4 cents per gallon for Diesel Fuel. Therefore, the total gasoline tax will be 48.55 cents per gallon and the total Diesel Fuel tax will be 54.55 cents per gallon. Please note that all our branded locations are on an automatic mail-out of POINT-OF-PROMOTION (POP) materials. These materials will arrive at your site, usually about once per quarter or more often if the need arises such as for a special promotion. You and Henderson Oil Company pay for these materials as required by our branded suppliers. Therefore, Henderson Oil Company and our branded suppliers require these POP materials to be posted as instructed in the materials. Also, the store inspectors and evaluators will be grading you on whether or not these materials are posted in accordance with supplier instructions. Please be aware that all our branded suppliers will continue to conduct IMAGE INSPECTIONS AND STORE EVALUATIONS on each branded location. A representative from the branded supplier will show up on your site at an unannounced time about once per quarter. They will identify themselves and proceed to ask lots of questions and evaluate your store in the areas of Customer Service, Uniforms and Name Tags, Interior & Exterior Cleanliness, Whether or not your Credit Card Applications and POP are displayed, Overall Cleanliness and Appearance, Lack of normal Maintenance and Upkeep, ETC., ETC. Please understand that we have no choice but to do it their way since we have chosen to fly their flag. Henderson Oil supports these programs since they just make good business sense. If you need anything to prepare for these inspections or just have questions or comments, please let us know. Please be aware that 3 failing scores of less than 80 % could result in your site being debranded!!! Please be aware that most all our suppliers have announced a COMPREHENSIVE PRODUCT SAMPLING AND TESTING PROGRAM where an outside firm will visit your site to conduct product quality and brand integrity tests on your fuels. Product quality and brand integrity are important issues with all our suppliers and Henderson Oil Company, and we all have a contractual and statutory responsibility to strictly comply with and protect the product quality and trademarks at our locations. Violation of this policy will result in cancellation of your contract. Please remember that it is illegal for any common carrier to deliver fuel into an underground storage tank if the sites UST Permit is not valid and in compliance with state and federal regulations. This UST PERMIT MUST BE POSTED SO IT IS VISIBLE to the truck driver. The UST Permit issue has become significant with large fines for willful violators. Please remember to send Connie a copy of your new permit each year when renewed. EVERYONE, PLEASE REMEMBER to place your product orders on Friday for a Saturday, Sunday, or Monday delivery. Also, please remember to give us a minimum 24 hour notice when ordering product to insure next day delivery during normal market conditions. Also, it is important that you place your product orders as far in advance as possible during high peak demand times and during abnormal market conditions such as unusually cold or adverse weather conditions, holidays and during periods of tight supply. This really helps our common carriers plan their delivery schedules more efficiently.
